Rivian EV Range Calculator
Compare a Rivian configuration with the charge you actually plan to use. The R2, R1S and R1T presets below identify the wheel package and model year; your owner baseline can include a trailer, roof load or a familiar route.
Sources checked: . Published figures are comparison references; the adjusted result is your planning scenario.
Plan a charge window
Select your measured range to enter a vehicle-specific baseline. Published presets are locked to their cited values.
100% makes no adjustment. Enter a factor supported by your experience for weather, speed, load and route combined. This is your assumption; the tool does not predict those effects.
Estimated distance within your charge window
531.1 km · no adjustment applied
Published baseline × your assumptions. This result is a planning scenario, not a new official range rating.
For the 330-mile first preset, leaving at 80% and reserving 10% makes 70% of the charge available: 231.0 miles before your conditions adjustment.
A 0% reserve is the mathematical full-range default. Set a practical arrival reserve before planning a trip, and follow the vehicle’s route and charging guidance.

The EPA database names these 2027 configurations. A rating is a comparison reference, not proof that a configuration is in stock. R2 Standard, Standard Long Range and Premium projections are excluded until their matching EPA records are available. Older Rivians can use a measured baseline or the exact rating on their own window sticker.
R2 versus R1: choose the vehicle before the number
EPA records list the 2027 R2 Performance AWD at 330 miles on 21-inch wheels and 307 miles on 20-inch all-terrain wheels. These are distinct configurations, not two estimates of the same tyres. Rivian’s R2 page also describes other versions with preliminary range wording; those future figures are not treated as certified presets here.
For an R1S or R1T, check the full EPA label in the table. Names such as Premium Long Range, Performance and Quad describe separate rated entries. A number from another model year, body or wheel package can make the rest of your calculation precise but irrelevant to your vehicle.
Build a towing baseline
Use several journeys with the trailer you will actually tow, a similar load and a comparable route. Record distance and the percentage points of battery used, then enter the resulting full-charge equivalent. Do not add a second towing deduction if your measured baseline already includes towing. A trip with an empty utility trailer is a weak guide to a tall caravan on a motorway.
Camp equipment can use energy while the vehicle is parked, which this distance-only calculation does not model. Preserve enough charge for the return from a remote location, and use Rivian’s vehicle navigation for reachable chargers and revised arrival estimates. Confirm the charging site’s access, trailer space and connector before depending on it.
Reading the wheel differences
The table is designed to let you compare exact records rather than apply a guessed tyre penalty. It does not infer that one wheel size always has the same effect across R2, R1T and R1S. Keep the rated configuration fixed when you compare different departure charge levels.
Calculation method and owner calibration
Distance = full-charge range × conditions factor ÷ 100 × (starting charge − arrival reserve) ÷ 100
The formula assumes distance scales approximately with usable state of charge. It models neither a charging curve nor changing wind, elevation, cabin energy or road conditions. The conditions factor is an explicit user assumption; it is not a validated model-specific weather forecast.
To create an owner baseline, divide a representative trip’s distance by the fraction of charge used. For example, 90 miles using 40 percentage points gives an approximate 225-mile full-charge equivalent. Repeat on comparable journeys. Small charge changes and rounded dashboard readings can make a single short trip misleading.
A 225-mile owner baseline, 80% conditions factor and 80% to 10% charge window gives 126.0 miles: 225 × 0.80 × 0.70. Keep the factor at 100% if the baseline already represents the journey, battery condition and load. This page applies no automatic battery-age penalty, heat-pump bonus or universal temperature multiplier.
Published presets are locked to their source values. Choose the owner option to enter your own full-charge range. The 0% reserve default only shows the complete mathematical baseline; set a practical reserve before planning a trip.
Questions Rivian owners ask
Is every advertised R2 range EPA-certified?
No. This page uses the matching 2027 R2 Performance EPA records for 21-inch and 20-inch all-terrain wheels. It excludes other R2 projections from the preset selector.
Can this tool predict Rivian towing range?
It can scale a measured towing baseline by the available charge window. It cannot infer the effect of a particular trailer, load, wind or terrain from the vehicle name.
Why does the R1 table include exact wheel descriptions?
EPA records distinguish the body, drivetrain, model year and wheel package. Choose the matching configuration instead of applying a universal wheel-size penalty.
