Renault EV Range Calculator

Plan a Renault battery-electric charge window without mixing a new specification with an older battery. The current UK references below cover Renault 5, Renault 4, Megane and Scenic, with an owner option for Zoe, earlier versions and other markets.

Plan a charge window

Select your measured range to enter a vehicle-specific baseline. Published presets are locked to their cited values.

100% makes no adjustment. Enter a factor supported by your experience for weather, speed, load and route combined. This is your assumption; the tool does not predict those effects.

Estimated distance within your charge window

259.0 miles

416.8 km · no adjustment applied

Published baseline × your assumptions. This result is a planning scenario, not a new official range rating.

For the 259-mile first preset, leaving at 80% and reserving 10% makes 70% of the charge available: 181.3 miles before your conditions adjustment.

A 0% reserve is the mathematical full-range default. Set a practical arrival reserve before planning a trip, and follow the vehicle’s route and charging guidance.

UK up-to WLTP combined references checked against the current model pages and range table. Megane’s current 306-mile techno reference accompanies the new 67 kWh battery; it is not assigned to the previous 60 kWh car. Scenic’s 392-mile reference is the current techno long-range version. Battery capacity is omitted where the reviewed source did not establish it.

Read the battery version as carefully as the model name

Renault’s UK range table distinguishes Renault 5’s 52 kWh comfort range at up to 259 miles from the 40 kWh urban range at 194 miles. The current model page identifies the two battery options. “Urban range” is a battery-version name here; both presets still use the published WLTP combined distance.

The Renault 4 page associates its up-to 249-mile reference with the 52 kWh comfort-range version. Match the battery in the order specification or your car’s documents before comparing the two smaller Renaults.

The current Megane is a new battery reference

The current Megane page lists techno comfort range 220 hp MY27, describes a new 67 kWh battery and gives up to 306 miles. Earlier Megane batteries remain different owner references. Similarly, Scenic techno long range MY27 is currently published at up to 392 miles. This page does not reuse earlier headline maxima.

A registration date alone can be an unreliable shortcut near a model update. Confirm the model version, battery and original rating. If your vehicle differs from the listed specification, enter its own official reference or a measured baseline rather than picking the nearest-looking number.

For a Zoe or an earlier E-Tech car

Record recent journeys with the current battery and the routes you actually drive. Calculate a full-charge equivalent from distance and percentage points used, then repeat on comparable trips. This incorporates your observed use without assigning every older Renault a fixed annual loss. Avoid extrapolating from a tiny change in the battery display.

A heat pump is not a fixed calculator bonus

Heating demand depends on temperature, trip duration and how often the car is parked. This planner receives none of those measurements and does not add an automatic heat-pump percentage. If your baseline already came from winter journeys, leave the factor at 100% for similar conditions instead of applying the winter assumption twice.

Use the charge window to choose a stop

Compare departure and reserve levels while holding the vehicle reference fixed. For a trip with motorway driving, several family stops or a roof load, calibrate against a comparable journey when possible. Check the car’s route arrival estimate and a compatible charging location before leaving; this tool does not receive charger availability or elevation data.

Calculation method and owner calibration

Distance = full-charge range × conditions factor ÷ 100 × (starting charge − arrival reserve) ÷100

The formula assumes distance scales approximately with usable state of charge. It models neither a charging curve nor changing wind, elevation, cabin energy or road conditions. The conditions factor is an explicit user assumption; it is not a validated model-specific weather forecast.

To create an owner baseline, divide a representative trip’s distance by the fraction of charge used. For example, 90 miles using 40 percentage points gives an approximate 225-mile full-charge equivalent. Repeat on comparable journeys. Small charge changes and rounded dashboard readings can make a single short trip misleading.

A 225-mile owner baseline, 80% conditions factor and 80% to 10% charge window gives126.0 miles: 225 × 0.80 × 0.70. Keep the factor at 100% if the baseline already represents the journey, battery condition and load. This page applies no automatic battery-age penalty, heat-pump bonus or universal temperature multiplier.

Published presets are locked to their source values. Choose the owner option to enter your own full-charge range. The 0% reserve default only shows the complete mathematical baseline; set a practical reserve before planning a trip.

Questions Renault owners ask

Is the 306-mile Megane reference for the older 60 kWh battery?

No. Renault’s current UK Megane page describes the new 67 kWh battery and techno comfort range 220 hp MY27 at up to 306 miles WLTP. Use an older car’s own reference.

Which Renault 5 battery does 259 miles describe?

The UK 52 kWh comfort-range version. Renault lists up to 194 miles for the 40 kWh urban-range version; both figures are WLTP comparison references.

Can I use this calculator for a Zoe?

Yes. Choose the owner option and enter the exact reference for your Zoe or a recent measured full-charge equivalent. No automatic age penalty is applied.
