BYD EV Range Calculator
Use a published UK BYD range or your own measured full-charge equivalent to explore a departure-to-arrival charge window. The selector distinguishes the 2026 SEAL saloon from the smaller DOLPHIN SURF and keeps combined ratings separate from city-only figures.
Sources checked: . Published figures are comparison references; the adjusted result is your planning scenario.
Plan a charge window
Select your measured range to enter a vehicle-specific baseline. Published presets are locked to their cited values.
100% makes no adjustment. Enter a factor supported by your experience for weather, speed, load and route combined. This is your assumption; the tool does not predict those effects.
Estimated distance within your charge window
569.7 km · no adjustment applied
Published baseline × your assumptions. This result is a planning scenario, not a new official range rating.
For the 354-mile first preset, leaving at 80% and reserving 10% makes 70% of the charge available: 247.8 miles before your conditions adjustment.
A 0% reserve is the mathematical full-range default. Set a practical arrival reserve before planning a trip, and follow the vehicle’s route and charging guidance.

| 2026 SEAL Design · rear-wheel drive | 354 mi | WLTP combined · up to · BYD UK 2026 SEAL configurator |
| 2026 SEAL Excellence · all-wheel drive | 323 mi | WLTP combined · up to · BYD UK 2026 SEAL configurator |
| DOLPHIN SURF Active · 30 kWh rated battery | 137 mi | WLTP combined · up to · BYD UK DOLPHIN SURF specification |
| DOLPHIN SURF Boost · 43.2 kWh rated battery | 200 mi | WLTP combined · up to · BYD UK DOLPHIN SURF specification |
| DOLPHIN SURF Comfort · 43.2 kWh rated battery | 193 mi | WLTP combined · up to · BYD UK DOLPHIN SURF specification |
These are selected UK WLTP combined references, not every BYD model or market. DOLPHIN SURF capacity is the source’s rated capacity, not a claim of usable energy. Its model year is not inferred from the date of this check. City-only and plug-in hybrid total driving ranges are excluded.
Choose the exact BYD and the correct range column
The current 2026 SEAL configurator lists Design rear-wheel drive at 354 miles and Excellence all-wheel drive at 323 miles WLTP combined. A higher trim does not automatically have a longer range. The selector retains each drivetrain instead of applying a generic AWD deduction.
DOLPHIN SURF: city range and combined range differ
The official DOLPHIN SURF specification has separate combined and city columns. Boost is 200 miles combined and 305 miles city; this planner uses 200. Active and Comfort likewise use their combined entries. A city figure can be relevant to a city comparison, but it should not replace the combined figure in a motorway plan.
For your own urban route, measure the entire routine: driving, repeated parked intervals and cabin preparation. A recent full-charge equivalent from that routine is more relevant than borrowing a laboratory city maximum and treating it as guaranteed distance.
Battery chemistry does not set an annual range penalty
BYD identifies the DOLPHIN SURF battery as Blade LFP. That label alone cannot tell this tool the condition of your particular battery or the loss on a cold journey. An automatic age deduction would also double count battery condition when a measured baseline already reflects the current vehicle. Use recent observations, and consult your model’s manual for charging guidance.
Keep BEV planning separate from DM-i
A BYD plug-in hybrid can advertise a distance that combines battery and petrol operation. Do not enter that combined powertrain distance as battery-only range. Plan its electric-only distance separately from the distance supported by petrol.
Compare two charging routines
Keep the same measured baseline and conditions factor while changing departure and reserve percentages. This isolates the effect of the charge window. If you change the model, weather assumption and reserve at once, it becomes hard to see what caused the result.
For a longer journey, check the exact vehicle’s connector, approved charging equipment and route arrival estimate. Plan around an accessible charger and a reachable alternative, rather than treating the remaining dashboard distance as a fixed promise.
Calculation method and owner calibration
Distance = full-charge range × conditions factor ÷ 100 × (starting charge − arrival reserve) ÷100
The formula assumes distance scales approximately with usable state of charge. It models neither a charging curve nor changing wind, elevation, cabin energy or road conditions. The conditions factor is an explicit user assumption; it is not a validated model-specific weather forecast.
To create an owner baseline, divide a representative trip’s distance by the fraction of charge used. For example, 90 miles using 40 percentage points gives an approximate 225-mile full-charge equivalent. Repeat on comparable journeys. Small charge changes and rounded dashboard readings can make a single short trip misleading.
A 225-mile owner baseline, 80% conditions factor and 80% to 10% charge window gives126.0 miles: 225 × 0.80 × 0.70. Keep the factor at 100% if the baseline already represents the journey, battery condition and load. This page applies no automatic battery-age penalty, heat-pump bonus or universal temperature multiplier.
Published presets are locked to their source values. Choose the owner option to enter your own full-charge range. The 0% reserve default only shows the complete mathematical baseline; set a practical reserve before planning a trip.
Questions BYD owners ask
Why is DOLPHIN SURF Boost set to 200 rather than 305 miles?
BYD publishes 200 miles WLTP combined and 305 miles WLTP city for Boost. This page consistently uses combined references, so its preset is 200 miles.
Which 2026 SEAL version has the longer published range?
The UK Design rear-wheel-drive reference is 354 miles WLTP combined. Excellence all-wheel drive is 323 miles. Select your exact trim.
Does the calculator deduct range because the battery is LFP or older?
No. Battery chemistry and age do not produce an automatic loss percentage here. Use a recent measured baseline or an explicit conditions assumption without double counting.
