Hyundai EV Range Calculator: Find Your Real World Range
Check an IONIQ charge window against the exact drivetrain and wheel configuration you drive. The presets use named EPA records, while the owner option lets you plan from journeys that resemble your own route.
Sources checked: . Ratings describe named test configurations. Results below are planning scenarios, not measured road tests.
Plan your available charge
Published values are locked to the cited record. Choose your measured range to enter a full-charge equivalent from comparable trips in your own vehicle.
100% leaves the baseline unchanged. Any other value is your assumption for the combined trip conditions. This tool does not infer weather, speed, heating or battery condition.
Include diversions. If there is no planned recharge, include the return distance too. The result cannot confirm a working charger or a passable route.
Distance within your charge window
Add a leg distance to estimate arrival charge and distance margin.
Published baseline × your assumptions. This is a planning scenario, not a new official range rating.
The default 100% departure and 0% reserve displays the full mathematical baseline. It is not a charging recommendation. Choose your intended departure charge and a practical reserve before planning a journey.
Verified baseline references
The preset list is a verified selection, not a claim to cover every Hyundai model or market. IONIQ 5 N, XRT and regular AWD are separate records. Older IONIQ 6 and Kona Electric owners can enter a measured baseline instead of selecting a different vehicle’s rating.

Hyundai: identify the trim before comparing range
The 2026 IONIQ 5’s EPA entries separate standard range, RWD, AWD wheel sizes, XRT and N. Hyundai’s US page maps regular RWD SE/SEL/Limited to 318 miles, AWD SE/SEL to 290, Limited AWD to 269, XRT AWD to 259 and standard-range RWD to 245. An AWD badge by itself is not enough to pick a baseline.
The IONIQ 9 has another trim split: Hyundai lists the 2026 S at 335 miles, SE/SEL at 320 and Limited/Calligraphy/Calligraphy Design at 311. Do not apply an IONIQ 5 adjustment to an IONIQ 9 just because both use Hyundai branding.
Plan for the trip you actually make
For a school or commuting route, keep a record of charge used on an ordinary return journey. For a motorway holiday, use a record from a similar motorway journey with comparable speed and luggage. A short urban trip and a long high-speed trip are different calibration samples. If you have no suitable record, leave the conditions factor at 100% to understand the official baseline, then treat the result as a comparison rather than a route forecast.
The range calculation does not predict how quickly the car charges. A larger range reserve may help when the next stop has few chargers, but it also reduces the distance budget. Enter the distance to a usable charging location, including any diversion from the main road, instead of the distance to a city center.
See what the wheel-specific baseline changes
At an 80% departure and 10% reserve, the 2026 IONIQ 5 AWD 19-inch record yields 203.0 miles; the 20-inch record yields 188.3 miles. That 14.7-mile difference is a calculation from two separate ratings, not an adjustable wheel penalty. Select the record that matches your car before applying an owner-supported conditions factor.
Calculation method and owner calibration
Usable distance = baseline × conditions factor ÷ 100 × (starting charge − reserve) ÷ 100
Arrival charge = starting charge − leg distance ÷ (baseline × conditions factor ÷ 100) × 100
The method assumes distance scales approximately with the charge used. It does not model changing speed, wind, elevation, traffic, parked energy use, battery temperature or auxiliary loads. The conditions factor is an explicit assumption; no automatic age, temperature or equipment coefficient is applied.
To estimate an owner baseline, divide the distance of a representative journey by the fraction of charge used, with no recharge between readings. For example, 75 miles using 30 percentage points gives approximately 250 miles as a full-charge equivalent. Repeat with several comparable journeys. Use factor 100% when your measured baseline already describes the planned conditions, so the same effects are not counted twice.
A positive margin only means the arithmetic reaches your chosen reserve under these assumptions. A negative margin means the chosen distance exceeds that charge budget. Confirm route and charging conditions with the vehicle’s guidance; this tool does not diagnose the battery.
Questions Hyundai owners ask
Can I use the 318-mile IONIQ 5 preset for every AWD trim?
No. The 318-mile EPA record is RWD. The 2026 AWD records include 290 miles with 19-inch wheels, 269 with 20-inch wheels and separate XRT and N ratings.
Can a range result tell me an IONIQ charging time?
No. Driving range and charging time are different quantities. Use the charging-time calculator with your battery, charger and charge-window assumptions.
