Ford EV Range Calculator: Find Your Real World Range

Budget a Mustang Mach-E charge window from verified EPA configurations, or enter a measured baseline for another Ford electric vehicle. For Lightning owners, the guide below explains how to make a trailer-specific plan without inventing a universal towing penalty.

Sources checked: . Ratings describe named test configurations. Results below are planning scenarios, not measured road tests.

Plan your available charge

Published values are locked to the cited record. Choose your measured range to enter a full-charge equivalent from comparable trips in your own vehicle.

100% leaves the baseline unchanged. Any other value is your assumption for the combined trip conditions. This tool does not infer weather, speed, heating or battery condition.

Include diversions. If there is no planned recharge, include the return distance too. The result cannot confirm a working charger or a passable route.

Distance within your charge window

320.0 miles

Add a leg distance to estimate arrival charge and distance margin.

Published baseline × your assumptions. This is a planning scenario, not a new official range rating.

The default 100% departure and 0% reserve displays the full mathematical baseline. It is not a charging recommendation. Choose your intended departure charge and a practical reserve before planning a journey.

Verified baseline references

The published presets are 2026 Mustang Mach-E EPA records. A Lightning or E-Transit owner should use a measured baseline for the exact vehicle and task. A commercial van’s body, payload and duty cycle cannot be represented by a Mach-E rating.

Ford: match the battery and the job

The 2026 Mach-E EPA records distinguish RWD and AWD with standard or extended-range batteries, plus GT and Rally. The extended-range RWD record is 320 miles; AWD Extended is 300. The GT and Rally entries have their own ratings. A Premium trim name alone does not identify the battery and drive configuration.

Ford says Intelligent Range uses factors such as traffic, temperature and speed, and can account for the trailer’s impact when towing a Lightning. Use the truck’s range and navigation tools during the trip; this page cannot read your trailer profile or live route.

Build a Lightning towing baseline

Measure trips with the same trailer, approximate load and driving speed. Record distance and charge drop after departure and before any recharge. Divide distance by the fraction of charge used to get an approximate full-charge equivalent. Keep towing and unloaded records in different groups. A tall enclosed trailer and a low open trailer may lead to different observations, so a single fixed towing percentage would give false precision.

Check the charging stop as a physical destination as well as an energy destination: can the vehicle and trailer reach the bay, and is there a legal place to unhitch if necessary? Add the diversion distance to the planned leg. The planner’s distance margin does not establish that a charging bay is accessible.

E-Transit and workday use

For a delivery or service route, a measured duty-cycle baseline can capture repeated stops and auxiliary use better than a passenger-car preset. Log comparable workdays and keep enough reserve for the return to the depot. This tool does not calculate payload limits, export power, charging schedules or commercial operating suitability.

Separate a route budget from a towing assumption

Suppose your own Lightning towing trips give a 190-mile full-charge equivalent. Enter that measured baseline, an 85% departure and a 15% reserve. At a 100% factor the charge window allows 133.0 miles. A 120-mile leg would leave about 21.8% charge in this scenario. The 190-mile example is illustrative owner input, not a Ford-certified towing range.

Calculation method and owner calibration

Usable distance = baseline × conditions factor ÷ 100 × (starting charge − reserve) ÷ 100

Arrival charge = starting charge − leg distance ÷ (baseline × conditions factor ÷ 100) × 100

The method assumes distance scales approximately with the charge used. It does not model changing speed, wind, elevation, traffic, parked energy use, battery temperature or auxiliary loads. The conditions factor is an explicit assumption; no automatic age, temperature or equipment coefficient is applied.

To estimate an owner baseline, divide the distance of a representative journey by the fraction of charge used, with no recharge between readings. For example, 75 miles using 30 percentage points gives approximately 250 miles as a full-charge equivalent. Repeat with several comparable journeys. Use factor 100% when your measured baseline already describes the planned conditions, so the same effects are not counted twice.

A positive margin only means the arithmetic reaches your chosen reserve under these assumptions. A negative margin means the chosen distance exceeds that charge budget. Confirm route and charging conditions with the vehicle’s guidance; this tool does not diagnose the battery.

Questions Ford owners ask

Can I select a Mach-E preset for an F-150 Lightning?

No. Use a baseline measured in the Lightning with the relevant load or trailer. The Mach-E presets describe a different vehicle.

Why is there no fixed towing percentage?

Trailer shape, load, speed and route can differ. A measured comparable towing baseline and the truck's Intelligent Range are more useful than a universal percentage chosen by the website.
