Polestar EV Range Calculator: Find Your Real World Range
Compare a named Polestar 3 or Polestar 4 EPA baseline with the charge window available for your trip. For a Polestar 2 or another unlisted configuration, enter a measured full-charge equivalent from similar journeys rather than borrowing a different model’s rating.
Sources checked: . Ratings describe named test configurations. Results below are planning scenarios, not measured road tests.
Plan your available charge
Published values are locked to the cited record. Choose your measured range to enter a full-charge equivalent from comparable trips in your own vehicle.
100% leaves the baseline unchanged. Any other value is your assumption for the combined trip conditions. This tool does not infer weather, speed, heating or battery condition.
Include diversions. If there is no planned recharge, include the return distance too. The result cannot confirm a working charger or a passable route.
Distance within your charge window
Add a leg distance to estimate arrival charge and distance margin.
Published baseline × your assumptions. This is a planning scenario, not a new official range rating.
The default 100% departure and 0% reserve displays the full mathematical baseline. It is not a charging recommendation. Choose your intended departure charge and a practical reserve before planning a journey.

These are model-year 2026 US EPA records, including their wheel and Performance Pack labels. Polestar’s current model-family pages can cover updated configurations, so a current headline is not automatically the rating of a 2026 vehicle. The 2026 Polestar 3 single-motor records here are 286 miles with 20-inch wheels and 291 with 21-inch wheels. Both values are preserved as certified records; no universal wheel-size deduction is inferred.

Polestar: expected range is a changing estimate
The 2026 Polestar 4 manual describes instrument-panel range as a prediction using current and historical driving and real-time conditions. After delivery or a factory reset, it begins from a certified value and then learns the driving history. A change in that estimate alone does not establish a change in battery capacity.
This calculator’s published preset stays fixed to its EPA record. Its owner baseline is a separate measurement of distance per charge used. The dashboard prediction, the published rating and a trip measurement are therefore three different observations. Compare them only after recording the departure charge and conditions; do not treat their difference as an automatic battery-health percentage.
Wheel and Performance Pack records
The 2026 Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor entries are 312 miles with 21-inch wheels and 281 with 22-inch wheels; the Performance Pack also has a 281-mile record. Polestar 4 Long Range Dual Motor is 280 miles, while its Performance configuration is 255. Those figures describe named test configurations. Applying an additional generic performance or wheel penalty after choosing the matching record would count an effect twice.
The single-motor Polestar 3 entries demonstrate why this planner does not apply a blanket rule that each larger wheel reduces range by a fixed amount. Select the exact recorded configuration and verify the vehicle label. If you have changed tires or equipment since delivery, calibrate from comparable trips instead of assuming the original rating still describes the modified car.
Prepare the charging stops, not just the distance
The Polestar 4 long-trip guidance recommends enough charge for the first leg, checking charging locations and downloading maps when connectivity may be poor. Enter the distance to the usable stop, including its access road. Choose a reserve that leaves room for an alternative stop; a positive calculated margin does not establish that the destination charger is available.
The reserve cost of a Performance configuration
For Polestar 4 Long Range Dual Motor, 80% departure and 10% reserve give 196.0 miles from the 280-mile EPA baseline. The 255-mile Performance record gives 178.5 miles. On a 170-mile leg at factor 100%, the respective estimated arrival charges are 19.3% and 13.3%. The comparison changes only the selected certified configuration; it adds no separate performance penalty.
Calculation method and owner calibration
Usable distance = baseline × conditions factor ÷ 100 × (starting charge − reserve) ÷ 100
Arrival charge = starting charge − leg distance ÷ (baseline × conditions factor ÷ 100) × 100
The method assumes distance scales approximately with the charge used. It does not model changing speed, wind, elevation, traffic, parked energy use, battery temperature or auxiliary loads. The conditions factor is an explicit assumption; no automatic age, temperature or equipment coefficient is applied.
To estimate an owner baseline, divide the distance of a representative journey by the fraction of charge used, with no recharge between readings. For example, 75 miles using 30 percentage points gives approximately 250 miles as a full-charge equivalent. Repeat with several comparable journeys. Use factor 100% when your measured baseline already describes the planned conditions, so the same effects are not counted twice.
A positive margin only means the arithmetic reaches your chosen reserve under these assumptions. A negative margin means the chosen distance exceeds that charge budget. Confirm route and charging conditions with the vehicle’s guidance; this tool does not diagnose the battery.
Questions Polestar owners ask
Does a change in Polestar 4 dashboard range prove battery degradation?
No. The 2026 manual says expected range uses current and historical driving and real-time conditions. It starts from a certified value after delivery or a factory reset and then adapts to driving history. That estimate alone does not measure battery capacity.
Why does the table keep separate wheel and Performance Pack options?
The EPA certifies named configurations. Select the wheel and equipment record that matches the vehicle. The calculator does not add another generic wheel or performance deduction to that rating.
Can a Polestar 2 owner use this calculator?
Yes. Select the measured-baseline option and enter a full-charge equivalent from comparable journeys in your own vehicle. The selected 2026 presets cover Polestar 3 and 4 and should not be substituted for a Polestar 2 rating.
