Hummer EV Range Calculator: Your Real World Range

This Hummer EV range calculator shows the real world driving range of every current GMC Hummer EV, the Pickup and the SUV, in 2X and 3X form, on both the 20 module and 24 module Ultium battery. It is not the GM estimated number on the window sticker. Pick your exact trim, then adjust for temperature, driving speed, load and towing, and battery age to see what the truck will really deliver on a given day. For the math behind any EV’s real world range, see our full EV Range Calculator.

Quick answer

Most GMC Hummer EV trims return about 75 to 90 percent of their GM estimated range in everyday mixed driving, and the newest ones can match or beat it at a steady 70 mph. The longest range Hummer is the Pickup 3X with the 24 module battery, rated up to 363 miles. The SUV tops out at 319 miles in 2X form. In Edmunds testing a 3X pickup covered 390 miles on their mixed loop, one of the longest results they have recorded, even though the Hummer is the least efficient EV they have tested at 57.8 kWh per 100 miles. Cold weather and towing move the needle most: AAA’s May 2026 study measured a 39 percent average range drop at 20°F, and testers routinely lose 30 to 50 percent while towing. Why Your Hummer EV Range Varies From the Sticker

GM estimated range comes from a controlled test at mild temperature with a gentle drive cycle. It is a fair way to compare vehicles, but it is not how anyone uses a 9,000 pound supertruck. Four things move the Hummer’s real range more than almost any other EV, and this calculator accounts for all of them.

🔋246.8 kWh

The Biggest Battery on Sale

The Pickup 3X carries a 24 module Ultium pack rated at 246.8 kWh gross and 212.7 kWh usable, the largest battery in any production vehicle. Every 2X and the SUV use a 20 module pack of about 205 kWh gross and roughly 177 kWh usable. That sheer capacity is why a wildly inefficient truck still travels 300 miles and more between charges.

⚡57.8 kWh

Record Low Efficiency

On the Edmunds EV Range Test the Hummer used 57.8 kWh per 100 miles, the most of any EV they have measured and 8.6 more than the next thirstiest, the related Chevrolet Silverado EV RST. A Tesla Model Y uses about 26.8 on the same loop. High consumption means every degree of cold, mile per hour of speed, and pound of trailer costs more range than it would on a lighter EV.

🌡️Heat pump

Weight, Aero and Winter

At roughly 9,000 pounds with a flat face and 35 inch tires, the Hummer fights mass and drag at every speed. It does have an Ultium heat pump paired with a resistance heater, which softens cold weather losses versus older EVs, but owners still report 15 to 25 percent less range in winter. Preconditioning while plugged in recovers much of it.

🔌1 to 2%/yr

Battery Age

Like any lithium ion pack, the Ultium battery loses roughly 1 to 2 percent of capacity per year on average, faster early and slower later. After 5 years most hold about 90 percent of original range. GM backs the high voltage battery with an 8 year, 100,000 mile warranty against dropping below 70 percent capacity.

The Math

The Hummer Range Calculator Formula

How is Hummer EV range calculated on this page? The calculator starts with your trim’s GM estimated range and multiplies it by four adjustment factors. Each one is drawn from real world test data, not a single fixed percentage.

Real Range = Trim Range × Temperature Factor × Driving Factor × Load Factor × Battery Age Factor

The temperature factors come from AAA’s May 2026 range and temperature study. The driving speed factors come from InsideEVs and Out of Spec highway testing plus the Edmunds mixed loop. The load and towing factor comes from real owner and press towing tests, where a 5,000 pound trailer at 70 mph cut range by roughly 45 percent and heavier loads near the 7,500 to 12,100 pound ratings cut it by half or more. The battery age figure follows Recurrent’s fleet data. Elevation, headwind, tire pressure, and roof accessories add further loss on top of the formula.

Temperature Curve

How Temperature Affects Your Hummer EV

Range peaks in mild weather and falls off fastest in the cold. This curve shows the share of rated range you can expect across the temperature band, matching AAA’s May 2026 dynamometer testing.

Real World Data

What Hummer Owners and Testers Really See

Independent testing from Edmunds, InsideEVs, Out of Spec, and owners on the forums gives a clearer picture than the GM estimate alone. The pattern is consistent: strong range in gentle use, a big hit at high speed or while towing.

Source Condition Result vs Rated
Edmunds EV Range Test 3X Pickup, mixed loop, mild 390 mi beat its rating, one of the longest Edmunds has logged
InsideEVs 70 mph test steady 70 mph, 70 to 78°F 343 mi about 4% over the 329 mi Edition 1 rating
Out of Spec winter test 75 mph, roughly 10°F 1.2 mi/kWh near 50% below the mild 70 mph figure
Owner range test 5,000 lb boat towed at 70 mph 165 mi about 55% of the 300 mi solo figure
The Fast Lane Truck 7,500 lb trailer, steep grade at altitude 206 mi 0.97 mi/kWh, a worst case towing result

Highway speed and towing are the biggest factors you control. A steady 70 mph in mild weather can beat the rating, while 75 mph in the cold or a boxy trailer behind you can cut range close to half. Plan towing trips around roughly half of your solo range until your own data proves otherwise.

Get Range Back

Six Ways to Recover Lost Hummer Range

Most lost range is recoverable. These are the highest impact habits for Hummer EV owners, ranked by how much they help on a truck this heavy.

1
Slow down 5 to 10 mph. Aero drag rises with the square of speed and the Hummer is a brick, so dropping from 75 to 65 mph can add 15 to 20 percent range. On a 250 mile leg that costs about 20 minutes, usually less than one extra charging stop.
2
Precondition while plugged in. Warm the cabin and battery before you unplug, using the myGMC app departure timer. This uses grid power instead of your pack and is the biggest cold weather win, since the resistance heater draws thousands of watts on a freezing start.
3
Plan towing at half range. Near the rating a trailer can cut range by 30 to 50 percent or more. Map DC fast chargers every 120 to 150 towing miles, keep the trailer as low and narrow as possible, and unhitch when you are not hauling.
4
Use seat and wheel heat, not cabin heat. Heated seats draw 50 to 100 watts each. The cabin heater can pull several thousand. Set the cabin cooler and let the seats and heated wheel do the work in winter.
5
Mind tires and pressure. The 35 inch mud terrain tires on Extreme Off-Road trims cost real range on pavement. Keep tires at the door jamb pressure, and if you run a road and trail setup, the smaller 22 inch package is worth 10 percent or more on the highway.
6
Strip drag and weight. Remove roof baskets, light bars, and bed accessories when you are not using them, and clear out gear before a long drive. On a vehicle already fighting mass and frontal area, every bit of extra drag shows up on the range readout.

Common Questions

Hummer EV Range Questions, Answered

It depends on the trim. The Pickup 3X with the 24 module battery is GM estimated at up to 363 miles, the longest in the lineup. The Pickup 2X is rated up to 316 miles, the SUV 2X up to 319 miles, and the SUV 3X up to 310 miles. Extreme Off-Road versions on 35 inch tires come down to about 297 to 298 miles. Use the calculator above for your specific trim in real conditions.
The Pickup 3X fitted with the 24 module Ultium battery and the 22 inch wheels, at up to 363 miles GM estimated. That 24 module pack holds 212.7 kWh usable, the largest battery in any production vehicle, and it is available only on the Pickup 3X. The longest range SUV is the 2X at up to 319 miles.
Plan on losing roughly 30 to 50 percent, sometimes more. In owner testing a 5,000 pound boat towed at 70 mph dropped range from about 300 miles solo to 165 miles. A small 3,000 pound trailer left more than 200 miles, while a big boxy camper or a load near the 7,500 to 12,100 pound rating can halve range or worse. A safe rule is to plan towing legs at half your solo range and map chargers every 120 to 150 miles.
Mass and shape. The Hummer weighs around 9,000 pounds, has a flat slab sided body, and rides on huge all terrain tires. On the Edmunds EV Range Test it used 57.8 kWh per 100 miles, the most of any EV they have tested and more than double a Tesla Model Y. The saving grace is the enormous battery, which is why an efficiency worst case still travels 300 miles and more on a charge.
Less than older EVs, but still a meaningful amount. Every Ultium vehicle, including the Hummer, has a heat pump paired with a resistance heater, so it holds cold weather range better than a car with resistance heat alone. Owners commonly report 15 to 25 percent less range in real winters, while AAA’s May 2026 study measured a 39 percent average fleet drop at a steady 20°F with the cabin at 72°F. Preconditioning while plugged in recovers much of the loss.
The 24 module pack on the Pickup 3X is 246.8 kWh gross and 212.7 kWh usable, the largest in any production vehicle, and the pack alone weighs about 2,900 pounds. The 20 module pack used on every 2X and on the SUV is roughly 205 kWh gross and about 177 kWh usable. For comparison, most long range EVs use packs of 75 to 120 kWh.
In gentle use it can. On the Edmunds mixed loop a 3X pickup covered 390 miles, and InsideEVs measured 343 miles at a steady 70 mph in mild weather, about 4 percent over the Edition 1 rating. Those are best case conditions. At 75 mph, in the cold, or with a trailer, real range lands well under the sticker. A safe planning number is 80 to 85 percent of rated range for everyday mixed driving.
The Chevrolet Silverado EV, built on the same Ultium BT1 platform, is rated much higher, up to 478 miles, because it is more aerodynamic and uses its battery more efficiently. The Tesla Cybertruck lands around 300 to 340 miles depending on variant, and the Ford F-150 Lightning around 300 to 320 miles. The Rivian R1T and R1S can exceed 400 miles in top configurations. The Hummer trades efficiency for off-road capability and its record battery size.
The 800 volt Ultium architecture accepts up to 350 kW DC, with real world peaks nearer 300 kW, enough to add about 100 miles in 10 minutes. Fast charging does not add range, but with the largest battery on sale it means a full recovery still takes a while, so planning legs around your real range matters more than on a smaller EV. For 2026 the Hummer uses a CCS port; a GM NACS adapter opens up Tesla Superchargers.
In mild weather with mixed driving the Hummer lands within about 10 to 20 percent of its rated range, and the newest trims can beat it at moderate speeds. The hardest cases are sustained highway speed, cold weather, and towing, each of which the calculator above lets you model. Because the truck is so inefficient, those hits are larger in absolute miles than on a lighter EV, so build in a comfortable buffer for trips.
